People are often skeptical when they hear companies talk about mission statements, values and culture, because we’ve heard about so many companies that behave horribly despite having nice-sounding values.  As one famous example, the outrageously corrupt Enron displayed its company values for all to see in their lobby, and they were: Respect, Integrity, Communication and Excellence.  Obviously, there was a huge disconnect between values and practice.

That said, as we grow the Will Marlow Agency, we are consciously focusing on the culture we have, and the culture we want.  And we think that all marketing agencies should do some version of this, and here’s why:

  1. If you know your company culture, you can hire people who are more likely to thrive in their job.
  2. If you know your company culture, you can hire people who are more likely to get along with the other team members.
  3. If you know your company culture, you can more easily decide how to allocate funds for unplanned or unexpected circumstances.
  4. If you know your company culture, you can make decisions more quickly – this goes for all team members.

At our agency, we care about company culture so much that we put together a 62-slide deck that we share with all team members, and that we revisit as a team on a regular basis, and that we make available to anyone who wants to see it, below.  We’d love to know what you think, and we hope that this helps you get to know our company a bit better.
