We all know people who hate the Internet, or claim to hate the Internet. But most of those people don’t really hate the Internet, they really just hate websites. Because somewhere along the line they were traumatized by a website that made them feel stupid.
This is why, when you’re designing a website, one of your goals should be: avoid making users feel stupid. Make your site easy to navigate, helpful, and intuitive. Make links and buttons look “clickable.” Make text scannable. Watch real people as they navigate your site, and look for areas that cause them to stumble or pause. Too often we focus on wowing people, impressing others with our technical abilities, knocking their socks off with bells and whistles on our websites. A website that is easy to use, helpful and intuitive is a beautiful thing.Did you like reading this blog post? This is a really good point. My blog’s design is pretty funky, but I think it is easy for people to navigate. Although, I’ve never watched someone browse through my blog live. That is a good tip that I should try out! Thanks for the heads uP!
Thanks Steven!
Thanks for the helpful information. I was writing a discursive essay and i chose the topic about the internet as it seems to interest me so much. but i found it hard to define why people hated or disliked the internet but of course i see that you have stated some obvious points and have helped me in the writing of my essay. Thanks for the points. I will be sure to include this webpage at the end of my essay as a source of information. Thanks again !
