Google Penguin

Google Penguin is the second most notorious update to the Google search algorithm, which was announced in April 2012.  This update, like Google Panda that came before it, was aimed at improving the quality of search results that Google serves.  Unlike Google Panda, however, Penguin was aimed at websites that try to manipulate their rank through such black hat tactics like link scheming.
