This is a follow up to a recent post I wrote on . Yesterday I noticed that Google provides “Alert Templates” which make it easy to keep track of changing trends in your web traffic. I took Google’s suggestions (with a few minor edits), and now the system is set to email me to let me know of the following traffic trends hitting any of my sites on any given day:
- Traffic Decreases by more than 50%
- Unique visitors decreases by more than 50.0%
- Percent new visitors decreases by more than 50.0%
- Average time on site decreases by more than 50.0%
- Traffic increase by more than 50%
- Unique visitors increase by more than 50.0%
- Percent new visitors increase by more than 50.0%
- Average time on site increase by more than 50.0%
With these eight new alerts, my daily/weekly Google Analytics routine has grown to 19 data points (Click for the other eleven trends that I follow with Google Analytics.)
As before, don’t hesitate to email me if you use Google Analytics in a creative way (such as for A/B testing by bringing in Google Optimizer), or if you simply use it to follow different trends in your site traffic that you find useful. will@alumnifidelity.com.
